Sick

It has been a while since I last posted and I find myself feeling extremely panicky that it has been a week since I posted...ugh!  I do adore blogging, however this anxiety that I get over not posting really needs to be addressed...but not today.

It is Saturday morning.  I got woken up at ten to seven by my darling Breezy, who was playing by the side of my bed with food from her play kitchen.  What posseses a child to haul fake watermelons, potato's and olive oil into my bedroom at the butt crack of dawn and have a little tea party is beyond me, however, she was perfectly content just hanging out next to the bed playing make believe all by herself.

I finally got myself out of bed and went downstairs with her.  Before even getting my glasses on though, she asks if she can play with Ting Ting.  Have I mentioned how in love with the hamster my kids are?  It is constant, "Ting Ting this and Ting Ting that"  my goodness, I have barely wiped the sleep out of my eyes and this child is begging for hamster time!  I said no and we went downstairs.

I ended up getting strep throat over the Fourth of July.  You can imagine my surprise to wake up again on Tuesday morning with a sore throat.  I mean, honestly?  I finished my antibiotics 10 days ago...why oh why do I have ANOTHER sore throat and suddenly feel so ill?  I went back to the minute clinic where I was informed that they could not do a rapid strep test since I had been on antibiotics within the last month so they would perform the longer test that needs to be sent out and they would call me tomorrow.  UGH!  But, on the other hand, my ears canal's are red and swollen and I have swimmers ear.  What the heck is that?  Oh nothing too big...you need antibiotic drops 3-4 times a day and you CANNOT swim for 7-10 days.  WHAT???  I am training for a Triathlon and I need to swim.  The Nurse Practitioner said, "Our recommendation is that you do not submerge your head in water as any water in the ear canal will cause further irritation."  I asked about earplugs and she fervently shook her head no.  Oh man!

The clinic called back the next day and told me that yes, my strep came back positive.  They put in a stronger prescription for me that I could pick up at the pharmacy.  Strep 2, Amber 0.  To be sick for almost an entire month of the summer really takes a lot out of you.  I was so upset that once again I was going to be down and out for a few days.  At least I have an obvious culprit for my sore throat, but I am beginning to wonder how I am picking up strep throat, twice, in the summer?  I hanitize(as my kids call it)all the time.  I wash my hands so often that they are constantly dry.  Nasty bacterial bugs, buzz off! I do like to post pictures that go along with the theme of my posting, but all I found on the web were some very graphic photo's of pus filled....well, I chose to spare you a visual and I will stop now with the verbal!

So, back to my morning.  Bria and I came downstairs where she wanted some waffles and OJ.  After breakfast, she lead me over to the couch because it was, "Time for you to turn on a movie for me mom and time for your medicent!"  Thank you nurse Bria!  She was happily starting "A Bug's Life" while I took my antibiotic, laid down on the couch to put in my ear drops for the swimmer's ear and blissfully began to read the end of my current book, "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult.

This has been what the past week has looked like in our household.  I am looking forward to next week and all that is has in store for us.  I SHOULD be better by then and hopefully back on track with fun activities, my workout regimen, and lazy days where I do not feel like staying in bed all day long.  Cheers to that!
