I asked Chadd what he thought about it and of course he griped about the cost and the time and the blah blah blah. Once he heard that it is pretty darn cheap to be a Daisie, he rescinded his prior comments and suggested that Avery quit dance and just be a girl scout...nice try buddy!
We signed up two days before our Carver Steamboat Day's parade. Avery got to officially meet her troop that day when she rode with the troop leader Brenda to the parade. They were toward the very beginning of the parade so they got to walk and throw candy and then watch the rest of the 2 1/2 hour parade(no lie, it really was that long).
We have meetings on the third Thursday of the month and they are right after school. It is very neat to be able to have her just stay after instead of having to drive somewhere to go to a meeting.
On October 1st, one of the girls hosted a patch party at her house. It was a bonfire where we learned about the first Marshmallow and a whole slew of interesting facts about our favorite campfire treat the S'more.
Avery and Natalie are in the same first grade class. I am so happy that a few of her classmates are also in her troop. It made our first meeting less stressful for Av.
We got a really cute s'more's patch for her smock and I am hoping to one day have sewed them all on :)
We also took a trip to the Arboretum. We did a pumpkin search and learned about plants and flowers. We also took the kids through the Maze which was a ton of fun.
So far our girl scout experience has been wonderful. The girls do this amazing thing at the end of each meeting where they criss cross their hands and hold each other's and then one of the troop leaders starts a squeeze and once it has made it around the circle everyone spins around by lifting their arms up over their heads. It is so cute to watch.
Were you in Girl Scouts? What are your memories and do you have any experiences that you could tell me about?

I don't think I ever made it to Girl Scouts. But I was in Brownies and remember it being fun. A lot of what you posted above sounds verrrry similar to my college years in a sorority! hahaha
