Tea Party

Avery was invited to her friend Aubrey's house for a Tea Party.  Since the grand event began at 1pm, the twins were invited along as well.  The girls dressed up in their "Sunday Best" and I just let Bennett pick out whatever he wanted.  Don't get me wrong, the kid was uber excited to be hanging with a bunch of 5 year old sipping on some tea...we just decided that it is best to have him wear whatever he wants because it will likely get messed up anyhow.

When we got to the party, Ann(Aubrey's momma) had all of the kids decorate and label a cut out "tea bag" with their name on it.  Then, she asked each child to sit at her(and his for Benny)spot, place a napkin on their lap and wait to be served.  She made sure to tell the kids all about being polite and using their manners.  I found it astonishing to watch 10 kids all say, "Yes Please," "No Thank You," and "Could I have some cream and sugar with that please?"  It was actually really impressive and quite hilarious.

Ann served actual tea(decaf) and gave the kids the option of having  Koolaid instead.  All but one child asked for tea and most of them wanted seconds when they were finished!  The kids were also served "finger food."  There were mini cookies, petite pb&j's, corn puffs, mini cinnamon rolls, grapes and orange jello jigglers.  The kids were delighted and the biggest hit was the puff corn, go figure!

Bria sipping her tea...no slurping!

Bennett enjoying his tea.

After tea time was over, Ann had the kids grab their decorated paper tea bags to play a game of pin the tea bag on the tea kettle.  She blind folded each girl, spun them and had them try to place the tea bag directly on a tea kettle that she had drawn.  It was funny to watch and intriguing as some of these little girls knew how to cheat by feeling for the other tea bags that were already on the kettle!

After we played this game, it was time for a craft.  Each girl was given the choice to make a unicorn or a castle out of that spongy material that you can buy from Michael's.  It was a darling little craft and the girls really enjoyed it.  Bennett spent most of this time beating up Aubrey's older brother and his buddy or playing with Zhu Zhu pets.  Hey, at least he was having fun right?

At the end of the tea party, all of the kids lined up outside and we went on a parade through the neighborhood.  The kids had so much fun at the Tea Party that they have asked to have a party of their own at our house every day since we were at Aubrey's.  I am still thinking about it......
